Motivation Station

IMG_2716

If you’ve seen me the last week or so and have asked how I’m doing, I’ve undoubtedly answered with, “Do you want the truth?” Then with an unwavering and knowing smile, I’ve told you that I’m doing, “as good as can be expected.”

Truth is, I’m having a tough time with motivation. I’m a few days away from beginning my 4th semester of grad school (alllllmost at the half-way point for my program) and weeks away from running in my first marathon. Like they say…the going is starting to get tough and this is when the tough are supposed to get going. But, I DON’T WANNA! It’s hard. My mind is constantly wandering to the space of time on the other side of these goals and dreams…but in the meantime, I don’t feel like doing anything in order to get there. Sound familiar?

Determination. Dedication. Persistence. These are all words used to describe people who are steadfast in achieving their goals and dreams. They are the words I’m currently reciting and chanting in order to get me over this hump. If you’re like me, and in need of a little help to stay on the course of a lofty goal or dream, here are a few quotes to lean on:

“The future depends on what you do today.” – Gandhi

“I’m thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn’t have stumbled across my strength.” – Unknown

“Do the work. Show up. Trust yourself” – Alex Elle

“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.” – Cynthia Occelli

What goals are you currently working towards? How are you staying motivated? Let’s connect and support each other. Comment below and let me know what you’re up to!

  1. I thought of you on my Santos run this morning. Have you ever tried Aaptiv? It is a great help on the tough days. Also… a cheat day…with Margaritas. I can help with that. xx
